Course Description
A Certified Medication Aide is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or non-licensed direct care person who has completed additional classroom training and is certified to dispense medications to patients while working under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse.
A certified medication aide is permitted by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services to Administer medications to residents in nursing facilities; intermediate care facilities for individuals with an intellectual disability or related conditions; correctional facilities; long term care facilities; and assisted living facilities.
Prerequisites
To enroll in the Medication Aide Program individuals must be at least 18 years of age, have a High School Diploma or GED and currently be employed as a CNA or
